Well, everyone keeps telling me how subaru improved the tranny and clutch from previous years, but how strong is it and where did it come from? How much whp can it handle with a good driver? How about launching, what is safe with the new tranny to not screw up the longevity?
yah man, i wanna know too!
oh btw how do you guys put your picture into under your name in the posts? i've added picture into my profile (not gallery) but doesnt show up

Im the owner of a new wrx tr as of 1/1/06 and here is my horror story
Well I went to pick my car up and it looked great again I was driving it back (oh, it felt so good having it look great) and as I started down a hill in third I went to shift to 4th and it wouldnt go, so I left it in nuetral pushed the clutch in again and shifted to 4th-er actually 2cnd.
By my mistake or the cars fault wich ever, I imediatly was slamed forward I pushed the clutch in as fast as I could but it was too late second was ripped.
So now im in the process of getting it fixed, the parts are supposed to be in wednsday 8th, 2006.
Subaru offered to cover the damage, not under the warrenty but for me to sign a document saying it was a courtesy of subaru and if that part ever fails again I am responsible.
I havent seen the document yet but I will make sure I read it over diligently before I sign it.
I pick up My car monday 13 evening
Subaru just released dealer warranty notification of not warrantying broken axles on new06 my Impreezas
that is bu!!shit how can they say that it is not covered under your warranty, especially when the car is brand new.
From what i have heard of Subaru and their warranties, Im not impressed with this Japaneese company
Maybe i should have bought an American made car, at least they wont f**k you over
And in my opinion, if these were designed to be rally cars, they should strong trannys, not something that will break like a piece of GLASS if you decide to get on it a little bit
I have never heard of an American muscle cars(mustangs, trans ams, comaros) having weak transmissions, because the manufactures know that the car was designed to fast and was built that way
I may trade this thing in (my 05) for a 06 mustang GT after hearing about all the problem ive been hearing about with the WRX transmissions. Yea i know everyone has a mustang, but that must be for a reason, they are good reliable cars that can go fast and wont break down on ya
Well I know that the STI tranny can handle 450whp without any issues so I suppose the 06 wrx tranny would be simlar...the only transmissions I have heard of being 'weak' are the 02's and early 03's .....

yeah that's what i hate about subaru - they are CHEAP as! you guys dont even have forged pistons like the rest of the world! in here they are so stingy in other ways too
If the transmission is breaking axles, it means that the tranny is strong, but the axles are much weaker! from what I hear from other forums the 06 tranny's are beefed up to handle the larger motor and capable of over 300 whp without problems... the axles have not been upgraded from previous models.
But anyon launching there rex is asking for problems anyway... if you think about it that is a lot of stress on all the other parts being that you are launching an AWD car and not FWD. Factor in the price as well.

The third day i had my brand new 2005 wrx the tranny went out, and i was in a way less stressful situation than you, i was merely pulling out of a parking lot at about 4k rpms when i heard something go "CLANK!" and i wasnt gunning it quick, i was just shifting high..
ended up that first gear was destroyed, and i got a lawyer cause they wanted me to pay for it.. i explained my place, i had like 50miles put on the car by me.. i bought this brand new car with 179miles on it..
they ended up splitting the 5200 dollar bill with me.. i shoulda taken them to small claims and won. think about it, you take them there, you point out that they will not replace a part that goes out because it has to mean someone abused it.. which cannot be proven, and it shows they arent even investigating other possibilities.. just assuming and making people pay.. speaking of which, i am gonna take them to court for the rest. i am gonna call me lawyer right now.. wait no im not cause im over it lol
