factory short throw shifter downshift trouble '12 wrz

Have a '12 wrz with the factory installed st shifter, and I'm having trouble with downshifts finding the gate going from 5-4 & 3-2.

Still breaking it in too (less than 1000 miles), so was wondering if this would be something that will likely improve with break in - or would replacing the front and rear shifter bushings improve things (and be the way to go anyway), or is there something else I should check on to see if it's set up/attached right or not?

New to wrx's but not new to mt, but just doesn't feel as good as I think it should, but still could be me somehow too...

Thanks!

Heh, didn't think about that - I'll have to check if I can swap a "sedan shifter" from the dealer Thanks for replying to my newbie question, I'll give it some more time then and not worry so much.

Thanks

Hope no one minds me bringing my own thread back from the dead but -

Just wanted to post that over time, I put in kartboy front & back shifter stay bushings, group n tranny mount and some better tranny crossmember bushings (from TiC) and really happy with the difference, no complaints at all now. Some day may upgrade the engine mounts too.

Way more solid and precise shifting, and also got rid of the rubber band feel.

Long time lurker here, don't post much, but appreciate all the stuff I've picked up from here, it's helped a lot. Thanks.
