Um...
I found those too about 3 months ago. That means your done sir. Game over. Who rebuilt the tranny? I hope it's under warranty. There are two options here

1. You currently have gears in your transmission sorely lacking teeth.
2. Those teeth stayed in the housing after the rebuild and have been grenading your current tranny, causing who knows how much damage.

Awesome. Ill have to check up on the warranty. My mechanic that I usually go to sent it to someone to get it rebuilt. The guy took forever, and I still had some problems when I got it back, and now this.

So if its not under warranty, what should I do? I dont do much with trannys, so what could I upgrade in it went I have it out again?

Wow, those are some nasty chunks. Whats your budget for a build and goals for the car?

Look into the lgt gearset (i believe thats whats in the 08+ wrx also). They seem to be a good budget minded build option. Other wise things the like of albins, par and PPGs will run upwards of $5k and more.

Damn it...we need keith for this. He said there is a LGT kit for the previous gen gearboxes. Apprantley they made that kit to fix something that doesn't quite transition over smoothly without the kit. Grr....I forget, but I do know that Keith found something along those lines.

Derek, not trying to tell you what to do, but your car has 150k and not getting any younger.
I think if it were me, I would be all over the tranny shop. And if that fails, than a stronger, stock like set to use as replacement.... Probably not a ppg set or something similar.

So, I have to give credit where its due. Keith replied and gave me the link that he bought his LGT gears for his 02 WRX. He said this one has the kit for the previous gens. Well, here just read his quote.

So how good are the LGT gears? I mean, the 2002 tranny is notorious for being weak anyways, so would putting LGT gears in would be better then doing a tranny swap with a better year?

And I havent really done research on transmissions so I dont know a lot about them, but why does the set come with 1st-4th if I have a 5 speed?
