2005 WRX need help please

I have a 2005 WRX and I am having problems with something in the drivetrain. When the car is cold it seems as thought the clutch isnt catching hardly at all. It is almost like it is slipping but it never really catches. After awhile of driving it acts pretty normal again.

I had it sitting for 2 months while i was out of the country and it just started doing this when i got back. It also had a valve cover gasket oil leak that I was unaware of before letting it sit.

Any ideas as to what is wrong? I am having the gasket replaced on wednesday and want to give my mechanic an idea as to what maybe wrong.

Thank you so much I would appreciate all the help I can get.

How is the shifting when it's doing all this?

When is the last time the fluid was changed?

The shifting is great. No grinding or anything. I have not changed the fluid in awhile and i will do that tomorrow. It honestly seems like the clutch is just not catching. Thanks for your help!

Try doing this when in 4th gear :
Get up to 15mph..... then give it 3/4 throttle... even full and see if the rpm's just shoot up without the car moving.

This is to rule out the clutch slipping
