Its not normal if you have a stock transmission. A PPG gearset whines like reverse all the time. Perhaps you are extremely lucky and whoever owned the car before you put a PPG gearset in.

On another note, perhaps the whining could be from very low or no gear oil in the tranny. Maybe its time for a flush and put some good gear oil in there. I recommend Royal Purple 5w30. I just flushed mine about 30 minutes go and Im hooked on Royal Purple now. My 4th gear doesnt grind anymore and I can get into 1st very easily at 30mph.

Man Im lucky, my 07 isnt hard to put in reverse, it doesnt mind going into 1st gear regardless, and no noise in any gear. I just might hold off on my PPGs since i dont drive hard and dont "meet" the power "requirements" for them yet.

I have no idea what they drive over here. All I see are helicopters, and humvees. I see the occasional Bradley or APC tanks. I dont go outside the Camp this time. Last time all I saw were old VWs, old BMWs, and some people that have money here actually drive Mercedes.

Well Im in Northern Iraq this time, rather poor people in my area, all just farmers. Last time I was in Baghdad didnt see one in the 15 months I was there. But I did see one in Kuwait. Almost ran him over in a 5-Ton. Would have been his fault.
