Question Very slow loading.

I've noticed it sometimes take 1 min + on page load times, is there anything that could be done about this.

I don't think it's my computer, cause other forums I hang out on load fine.

Thanks,

Dj

I think the problem is all the external ad servers. They are Javascript calls that block the display of the page until they finish loading. I count about 80 external calls that are probably for advertising. The page is blank except the header until about 5.5 seconds. It takes almost 8.5 to load the entire page, and that's from a data center in Chicago.

These should all be moved to tag management system like BrightTag, TagMan or Ensighten. This would enable the page to load first, and then all the external calls to ad servers would happen behind the scenes.

I know ads are how the site makes money, but they could probably be done in the background.

You can use a free tool like pingdom to look for improvements.

Just a thought. ;-)

Bump this thread! I recently joined and I can't help but notice how painfully slow this site is. I am a member of two other subaru forums and they load fairly quick. Since I am a newbie here you can kick me to the curb if you would like but it sure would be nice to speed things up a bit if possible.

thanks

its def the server this site is on. it isnt any of your setups. i have had this site just not reply to my requests. an easy way to tell this is to simply try to load another site and check your status bar. ulll see that this site is just not responding.

It's a shame because I found some decent information on here albeit through google searching.

I guess I am comparing it to my other forums.
I am on a microwave connection at 3 Mbps and it rips pretty good.

It's a microwave radio connection that uses line of sight to a mountain peak nearby.
I live out in the sticks and my only other option is satellite. I had satellite for several years but they limit the total bandwidth. With kids I was always running over. It's a really nifty setup capable of up to 12Mbps up and down.

Hi guys thank you for the reports. I escalated that to the tech and is now monitoring the db logs closely as it seems to be running okay from this end.

Thanks,
