please help....newbie in trouble

I am new to the forums and i just bought a 02 wrx.it has a front mount perrin, turbo back exhaust, intake, blow off valve, and some nice suspension work. all the couplings under the hood say perrin. the car runs like absolute shyt. i took it to my cousins shop and he said the car shows signs of an aftermarket standalone being installed and then removed when the car was sold. the carpet is pulled up and there are many wires just hanging around. i can rev past 4k rpm without the car breaking up horribly. the check engine light flashes constantly. my cousin told be to look up cobb tuning products but i want to know what ## opinions where and if cobb would even help. which map would i even upload?

When the engine light flashes like that it usually means you are knocking. So stop revving it out until you fix it. I am not familiar with Cobb but with a Turboxs Utec your car would be considered stage three. And with a proper tune you will definately get rid of alot of your problems. Didn't see in your post if you have an uppipe as well, odds are though you have one. And you do need some sort of Em immediately! Your car was most likely tuned for all those mods.

not trying to be a dick... But why did you buy a car that you cant rev past 4000 rpm's? Most of the people here would have told you not to buy a modded wrx.

+1 with that Nagy. I was scared when I bought my car due to the fact that I found duct tape inside the silencer making some sort of crude silencer delete. Upon further pooking and proding though found that everything else seemed ok.

Good stand alone is a Hydra but you don't need one of those. You would be fine with either a Cobb accessport, Utec, and any other form of em. What ever you do get it protuned.
