WRX vs. SRT-4

Alright, I went to the track last night and I thought you guys would be interested to no I beat a brand new 2004 SRT-4. It was close, I only won by about a foot. Those cars have a wicked third gear. The track wasn't timing the races so I can't post any times. All I have is a full turbo-back exhaust so I am real happy with the race. I could've won by more but my launch was worthless, yah yah, excuses excuses. Just thought you guys should know how it went. And before someone comes on with the whole "SRT-4 would have won if...." stuff, I would like to say I'm not bragging and I only have respect for that car.

I have a friend with a str-4. My wrx and his are both bone stock and he beat me time and time again from a rolling start. He has major traction problems from the go but we didn't ever race from a stop. Oh yeah, he had a 150 pound passenger. I hate neons but I must say those things are fast.

Stock for stock, w/ equal drivers and everything, the WRX will beat an SRT-4 in the 1/4. I have respect for the SRT, but only a bit. The SRT isn't labeled as a muscle car that is only straight line fast, this car is being advertised all around as a driver's car but that isn't true. The WRX will beat the SRT on ANYTHING but from a roll. Nuff said

All I can say about the srt4 is I have no idea how that car gets any traction whatsoever. Back in hs I owned a 90 cavalier z24, 3.1V6, factory rated *gasp* 150HP, and that car would spin all the way through 1st and 2nd gear, and chirp 3rd if I really beat on it... which was often.

Cool! They are very equally matched cars in stock form. I have seen both run 13.8's bone stock (wrx had a BOV), and though the srt traps higher (mo powa) the wrx obviously has the launch.
