In traffic jams on the expressway, I give a car length (which is plenty close) and am judging the speed of the 4 or 5 cars ahead of me (in each lane) so that I can maintain a steady crawl even while the others are riding each others' a$$es, starting and stopping in 20 foot increments. Well, there are people who get visibly upset when I don't ride the bumper of the person in front of me, stopping and starting and stopping and starting like everyone else. So much so that they try to ride my a$$ to get me to go 3-5 mph faster. This is the point when I like to slow down just a tad more, opening up the gap in front of me. The grade A idiots will try to swing out into the next lane, gun it (in traffic) and try to show me that they are faster. The best part is when they have to stop and I crawl right past them, leaving them further behind than if they had just stayed where they were behind me and followed.
Before I came to Korea (5 years ago), a significant amount of drivers in LA had started to learn that staying in one's own lane and teaming up with the cars in front can result in getting through traffic quicker. However, I am dealing with tempers from just about everyone except commercial truckers on the Korea expressways. It really is funny to see just how shortsighted people are.
What grinds my gears is that I have to share the road with people who can't be bothered to look beyond their own hood ornament.
70 to engine rebuild faster than you can say "poofff!"
