went to the drag strip last night!

So I finally went, had the car for 2 years. I wanted to go last year but its hard to get out with two young kids. Anyway, it was the midnight drags, which they don't give slips for. But I had a buddy tell me what I ran. I didn't launch with any anger at all nor did I have a good reaction (pro tree) but I ran against a Buick grand national that was doing a lot of tuning tweeks there. Keep in mind it was the absolute first time I have ever driven down a drag strip. I ran a 14.90 the first time, I was not interested in beating on my car so I waited about 45 mins between runs. I did beat the gn. By about half a second. The second run I did about the same kind of start, ran a 14.68. Didn't catch the trap speeds. It was really just about me seeing what the car felt like going down the track. Second run was against a friend's 6.2 L Chevy truck. He ran around a 15.40. Anyways, I know it doesn't really count without a slip but just thought I'd share my fun night.

2 things;
1) Did you have fun?
2) Did you have fun being smart and not street racing?

Awesome times for your first time out.

Yes, and definetly yes. Thanks bro. Better to pay 30 bucks and do it legally than 500+ and lose lisence, job, house, wife...ha ha. Yeah I had a blast. All my buddys were surprised with my liitle grocerygetters times.

It's a wagon. Did they expect it to be slow?

Yeah I'm pretty confident that if I had better reaction times i could easily have been down in the lower 14s

Shouldn't matter at his power level. Heck I've run some of my best times on all seasons....

Yeah. Not even good all seasons... Traction was not nor has it ever been a concern for me though. I'm not in the habit of buying new transmissions, so my launches are rare, but if it happens I'm quite clutch happy. If I had a decent rt my 60 ft times still wouldn't be amazing. I honestly don't have a massive savings for a bunch of broken drivetrain parts so I'm usually really easy on the old girl. But I know I can do better than what I did. Hell I bet if I didn't have that pro tree to figure out timing with it would have been loads better.
