Well I crossed the finish line, beaten and battered, but alive. Must admit of all the crazy stuff I have done over the years this ranks pretty damn high on the "you shouldn't be doing this at your age" scale. Over all the course is brutal and I do mean brutal. This should not be attempted by someone that hasn't been training for it and even then you won't be prepared for it. The water was just above freezing, accept the arctic enema which was actually freezing(water was 34 degrees) and the mud between the obstacles was thick and deep. I even went all Bear Grylls and ate an earthworm because I was so friggin hungry. Now to answer a question...

And yes, I know oval is a shape.
HAHAHAHAHA!! No I am not oval, not even close. At 6ft 206lbs with about 10%BF I'd say I am in better shape than most, especially for my age. I have done events similar to this and some even harder. I trained roughly 6 months for this and at about mile 9 or so my body was really starting to hurt and my legs were cramping just walking. Met a guy who had ran it twice in the same day and his first run he finished in 2:08:00 so just a tad over 2 hrs to finish a 12 mile race of this nature...then he did it again.. Next up will be the GoRuck challenge Heavy which is a simulated 24hr special operations training event...woohoo.... Plus several mud runs in between....thanks for the wishes guys it paid off.
