speakers

i want to upgrade my stereo system but am woried about the speakers not fiting. at best buy they told me that alpine type s 6 1/2 should fit but when i went to alpines web site and built a system for the car it said that these were the way to go

From what I understand, both should fit, you just need the right spacers.

This might or might not help you very much, but you could check out crutchfield's site for what will fit and what won't. You can also contact them, their tech support is pretty good.

I live near Crutchfield's HQ and have access to their outlet store. When I went to put speakers in my '02, the only match they had at the time were some cheap-ass crap not much better than stock. Circuit City said nothing would fit. Went to my local high-end audio shop and he put in MBQuarts that blew me away. Can't remember the size (metric) but he had to do a little fab work to make it fit. Paired that with a Phoenix Gold amp & sub for a sweet little system. When I traded for my '04 swapping out the stereo was part of the deal.
