a recent detail i did

Up for Detail today is a 2010 Ford Escape. The owner of this car admittedly hasn’t taken much care of it since he bought it new in 2010. It’s a family car driven by 4 different people each week (all of which are smokers and parallel park by “sound”). This winter has been very harsh on pretty much every car in Chicago, however, it have been more so hard on this one due to the fact that they clean the snow off of it with a push broom. When this car has been washed in the past, it has been taken to the dealer for free washes and to local “brush” style washes.
Anyways, on to what you come here for.

Products used:

ZEP Extractor Shampoo
Ridgid 8hp Wet/Dry Vacuum
1” Boars Hair Brush
HDX Carpet Scrubber

And a bunch of microfibers

Wheels:
Meguiar’s Non Acid Wheel and Tire Cleaner Diluted
Chemical Guys General Purpose DA Brush

excellent work! That would take me two days, but I'm sure you had it done in much less time.

It wasnt actually that bad on the day that I did it. I think it was like 40 degrees maybe.

It took me about 13 hours, 2 for the interior, 1 for lunch, and the rest was paint work. I would have been much faster, but the paint on the hood took me 3 hours alone. It was incredibly sticky and would let me wipe off any of my compounds or polishes. Polishing rubber would have been easier!

decided to make this thread Collection of my detailing writeups.

This is a 2001 Chevy Venture. It has been driven and neglected by probably 10 different people over the last 13 years that we have owned it. It’s gone through smokers, children, slobs, and has even been used as a parts transport workhorse in dire situations. It has never had floor mats has really only been washed a handful of times and has definitely never had a coat of wax applied. The interior smelled like mold due to the fact the rear windows were left open for about 3 months last spring.

I took this car on so I could practice for upcoming spring and summer, also known as detailing season.
I spent a total of 3 ½ hours on this car. I did a complete Interior detail, and a 1-step on the exterior, as well as rain X on the windows and Klasse AIO on the interior windows.

Products Used:

Interior:
Ridgid 8 HP Wet/Dry Vacuum
Bissell Little Green ProHeat
ODOBAN (as an extractor detergent)
Meguiars APC+ 10:1
Meguiars Water Based Dressing 1:1
ZEP FAST 505 (for grease stains)
Klasse AIO (for sealing glass)
Stoner Invisible Glass

Exterior:
2 Bucket Wash with ONR, grout sponge and Grit Guards
Griots Garage tire shine
Rain-X rain repellant
Rain-X Window Scrub (applied by PC with Griots Garage Glass Pads)
Stoner invisible glass with Rain Repellant
IRON-X
Clay Magic Blue Clay (for windows and Paint)
Optimum No rinse wash and wax
Meguiars D151 (applied by Flex 4301 and LC foamed wool pads)
Meguiars Ultimate Spray Wax (as a final wipedown)

Before:

Iron-x

After the wash

Polished (I couldn’t get many before/after pictures due to the color)

After 1-Step

Up for detail today is a 2014 Ford Explorer. The owner called me complaining that his new car smelled like sewage, and there was a salt ring around the drivers floor board from before he got the WeatherTechs. His neighbors septic tank burst and caused his whole driveway to flood. So, needless to say, I had plenty of cleanup to do on the interior. The exterior wasn’t so bad, but it had the usual swirling on the soft black pillars and hadn’t been waxed since it was picked up. The wheels had a few scratches, but the owner said that those were there the day that he picked it up from the dealer.
Anyway, on to the exciting stuff.
Products Used:

Ridged 8HP Wet/Dry Vacuum

Optimum Leather Protectant
Plexus Plastic cleaner and polish
Misc brushes and microfibers

Exterior:
2 Bucket wash w/Optimum NO Rinse & Lambs wool mitt
Dried with waffle weave
Nanoskin (fine) mitt w/ONR in wash bucket
Dried with waffle weave
Black Pillars Polished with SF4500 on a White Hex Logic pad with Flex 3401
Car Polished with Klasse AIO on a Blue Hex Logic pad with Fles 3401
2 Coats of Klasse Sealant Glaze
All polishes and glazes removed with Gold Microfiber

Wheels & Tires
Meguiar’s non-acid wheel & tire cleaner
Meguiars Ultimate compound applied with a megs drill buffer thingy

Up for detail today is a Nissan Armada. They are getting my silver package with leather. It includes a wash, Decontamination, single step polish, wax and interior wipedown + vacuum and in this cars case Leather cleaning and conditioning. Upon initial inspection, the Armada wasn’t as bad as the cars that Ive been doing lately. It had some oxidation, and swirls from visiting delta sonic (unlimited wash sticker in the window) but all in all, not that bad. Even the interior wasn’t that bad. It was well taken care of and aside from the leather, showed very little dirt.
I did not get a chance to take as many pictures as I normally would. Which was kind of disappointing, but when you’re rushing to do the job right, pictures aren’t the most important thing anyway.
In the end, both myself and the owners were happy with the finished product.
Time – 5.5 Hours
Products Used:
Interior:
Meguiars APC+
Wolfgang Leather Cleaner
Optimum Leather Protectant
303 Aerospace Protectant
Ridgid 8hp Wet Dry Vacuum
4 Terry Cloth Bonnets (for Leather)
Misc Mircofibers

Wheels/Tires/Wheelwells:
Meguiars APC +
Meguiars non acid wheel cleaner
Griots Tire Shine
Chemical Guys Bare Bones
Misc Brushes and microfibers

Glass:
Invisible Glass (interior)
Invisible Glass w/Rain Repellant (exterior)
Waffle Weave Towels

Exterior:
Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss (foam and 2 bucket wash)
Sheepskin Mitt (2 bucket wash)
Nanoskin Mitt (decontamination)
Meguiars D151 - Flex 3401 W/Green Hex Logic Pads
Meguiars Ultimate Wax - Flex 3401 W/Red Hex Logic Pads
Gold Plush Microfibers (polish and wax removal)
Griots Waffle weave (drying)

Interior Cleaned:

Clear Coat Failure. I taped this area off after the wash was done to ensure no further damage would result.

You like taking pictures but honestly a lot of these cell phone shots give me a headache! Digital cameras are not that hard to use. Please! And get one that has a a flash you can point UP so it doesn't fire back at your face in the reflection shot you're taking.

I know a easy way you can keep from getting a headache...scroll on! Lol. I don't have a digital camera and have no desire to go buy one either. Some cell phones can take nice pix these days.

Good job on the detail man! Wish I could hire you.
