question...

so, i've been trying to look into a digital camcorder. i've been looking for one to film races with but have yet to find a decent one within my price range. I've found a couple that hit the high range and i was interested in but nothing i was going to get yet. i was trying to get one that puts them on computer but also saves them to tape or disc or what have you. however, i came to realzie that best buy has a promo this month for a digital one for $90, the only downside being it's memory card only. my question is, does anyone have any experience with this kind? they are also promo-ing 512 mb cards with it, anyone know about how many hours that holds? as much as i'd like something a little different a price like that is hard to pass up. thanks for the input.

very little video, if its for 90 dollars than its a camera not a camcorder, digital camcorder your looking to spend anywhere from 400 up to 4800 depending on what you want. most camcorder dont use memory cards they ethier use dvr discs(mini dvds basically) or mini dv's which look like mini tapes. best bet is to try and find one on ebay or something. O yea if you want to put it on your computer get a mini dv, u can put it on your computer with a "firewire" cable an IEEE394 cable and you can get editing software and all that jazz.

Theabove post is correct. You will be very disappointed in the video quality. It is very poor. Go for a nice MiniDV camcorder. I work in digital coaching software and they are the best solution if you want to use it with a PC. You can find a nice entry level camera for under $250 nowadays too.

See www.bhphotovideo.com and searh for MiniDV camcorders under consumer video. They have even got a Canon ZR500 for $260. Has all the manual adjustments (focus, shutter, white balance, exposure)
