Not braggin', just weighing the facts (pardon the pun). Yes you are correct on the wagon's P/W ratio being much better, but damn, the BRZ just looks freakin' cool and I haven't owned a "new" car in many, many years.

Emotion is always a factor in car choice

I'm sure the BRZ will corner just a bit better than the wagon though. Probably nothing earth shattering, but to the hardcore track driver. I'm sure someone like wagonracer will definitely notice the difference.

Very excited to see you get it.

Way to usher in the era of "Losing another of our forums few guru's to a BRZ forum" lol

I think it's pretty but I just look at a RWD suby and think "abomination". I'm still confused why Subaru hasn't announced a turbo version yet. Why sell the exact same car as toyota?

It is being manufactured/assembled in a Subaru facility. Also, I have read that Toyota was in charge of design and Subaru was in charge of engineering. So, I have a hard time accepting that this car is more Toyota than Subaru. I wonder what kind of "deal" was agreed to with respect to "playing nicely" when it comes to marketing and promotion of this car. My (biased) gut tells me that even though Toyota is making the most noise about this car to start, it will be Subaru that benefits the most in the long run from this (successful) endeavor.

only my .02, curious to hear other opinions

Yes, yes exactly like that.

And I think the car will be a success... as a Toyota. I think the BRZ would only be sucessful if they took it into a different market than it's Toyota cousin, either with AWD or a turbo or both.

I'll bet Subaru wishes they never ran that !! I'm going to love my abomination even more because its a Subaru.

From what I've read, Toyota's main input has been in the DI system. The collaboration with Toyota and FHI manifested itself in the new for '11 forester engine. FHI is building both the BRZs and the toy branded 86s as they have the production capacity to do so. AWD is not an option in order to achieve the F-R balance, with the engine mounted rearwards.

BTW, RWD it's what makes a sports car a sports car. Symmetrical AWD is not really a necessity on a planet that is increasingly being paved

From what I gather from all the reading. They moved the engine down and back too far for the awd to work properly. But, it made the weight balance of the car very nice.
