Talking New member!

Hello,

I just joined the boards. Looks like a very good website for WRX's. I actually have a DSM, so technically I am in enemy waters.. I am thinking about making the plunge so to speak into a subaru. My 1990 eagle talon TSI has been nothing but a money pit since I bought it. It is very modded and although it is very well tuned I am looking for a newer car to keep for a long time. The talon has the following mods:

-Boost, EGT, A/F and oil pressure pressure
-greddy full auto turbo timer
-greddy profec II boost controller
-Apline CD player
-Momo RS GT seats
-Momo 4 points
-Rollcage
-"crushed" 1G BOV
-carbon fiber parts
-fully redone suspension
-16" icon silver w63 rims
-hancook ventus tires
-baer front brake kit/stock rear
-steel brake lines
-free mods
-hacked air can with KN filter
-Upper and lower intercooler piping
-spark plug wires
-new vacuum hoses
-custom 2.5 stainless steel exhaust system
-ported 2G eclipse manifold and O2 sensor housing
-2.5" cat and downpipe.

Thats all the mods I can remember off the top of my head. I was thinking about selling this car because I found a really nice condition 2000 impreza RS 5 speed with only about 40,000 miles. It is priced at $17,000CAD. Is this a good price? The exterior/engine is spotless and so is the interior. What do you guys recommend?

Thank you, Michael

If you're looking to go Turbo, then I'd save some more money and "dive" into the WRX first. You'll end up spending just as much money, if not more on a Turbo RS than you would on a WRX. Not to mention, you'd probably get better performance out of the WRX for less.

Welcome.

Any particular reason you are looking at going with an RS over the WRX? The RS isn't a good place to start if you are looking for decent speed and such. It is NA and doesn't take well to having a turbo added. Only 165HP/166ft-lbs stock. COBBTuning lists their stage 1 through 3 upgrades as delivering an additional 40 or so wheel HP at the price of about $6500US. Unless you are looking for something to slow down with as you get into old age, the RS may not be the car to transition into from a modded DSM.

A stock 2002 WRX (first year offered in States) with 20,000 miles blue books for about 28,500CAD. Gives you 227HP and 217FT-LBS to start with and is pretty mod friendly. If you can afford the extra 10K, I'd go for the WRX.
