New here...couple questions

Hey fella's,
I'm new here just wanted to say hi and have a couple questions. please correct anything i say if I'm wrong.
I once owned a 98 Legacy GT but sold it to buy my 95 Talon Tsi AWD. I want to buy a 2000 or 2001 Impreza RS and swap a wrx engine in it. The reason I want a 2000 or 01 is because those are available in a 4 door.

Has anyone ever done this? would the transmission from the ej25 bolt up to the ej20 turbo? am I stupid for wanting to do this? I just need a little help getting everything started. thanks fo rany insight

All Imprezas from 02 and up are 4 door.

That is a pretty common swap. There is a little modification that will have to be done, and you'll need a WRX ECU, but other than that, it's pretty straight forward. At least, as swaps go. There is no such thing as an "easy swap".

yes but, I'm not really a big fan of those bug eyes from the 02 and up wrx's. that's just why I was thinking about a 00 or 01 RS, because I can have the old body style with a 4 door.
when you say there is "little modification" how little is that? I put a 90 6bolt engine in my talon and we just had to modify a tranny mount and a couple other things. so i'm pretty sure i can handle everything.
also, on the ECU, will i have to rewire for a wrx or will it plug into the factory harness?
thanks.

I have not personally done it, so unfortunately I can't help you there. I would check on www.scoobymods.com. I know there are more than a few threads on there about this particular swap.

Personally, I love the older +/- 2000 style bodies more than the current bugeyes and the 04/05 style. But free new car from mom and dad... who can pass that up?

Come on, you can't tell me this isn't sexxy
