Isn't ramstein a shitty metal band from Germany....lol.....du du haust meish

All joking aside, although I've never served I come from a long line of service men and women and I totally appreciate what you guys do to keep me and my family free. The only reason I didn't join the core is because a promise I made to my mom.

I don't have to be mad to punch someone in the face!

Just found out a guy I use to work with was one of the guys killed in the helicopter that got shot down. Nick Null, guess he was an EOD specialist. I knew he had gone into the military, but he moved away shortly after and I hadn't spoken with him in years. Sad he left behind a wife and 3 kids. He was a good kid and I'm sure the people on this thread are ones the know respect when it is due.

Wow, Keith, that hits home there man. I have lost over a dozen friends (real guys I worked with on a daily basis, knew their families and all) in my last 2 deployments, did 8 months on funeral detail. That there tugs at every string that makes one human there. I do appreciate you sharing the story tho. Im sure that hits hard for you also.

I have a buddy that I talk to once a month or so that is currently in the ARMY. He told me that over the past 10 years he knows that of at least 17-18 people he was in boot camp with have been killed.

Thats pretty much my platoon right there. I will keep politics and personal opinion out of this. But everyone can read or watch the news, and do a little math and see whats wrong with the big picture. I just want anyone and everyone that reads this thread, or these posts to realize that its a job just like any other one, we have bosses also, we just do what we are told. There are bad apples everywhere and anywhere. Please take the bad apple with a grain of salt, some of us have given the ultimate sacrifice for our loved ones. Ask any good soldier why they do what they do and its not for fame or riches. Im sorry to go off an a tangent like that, just really hitting home right now.

Again Keith I do appreciate you sharing, it does show a love and support for the ones that have volunteered regardless of their reason.

Trust me I understand completely. My grandfather was in WWII, but never spoke of it until right before he died and it pisses me off when I see some kid/adult that doesn't remove his hat during the nation anthem or talks while it is being played. Your political and personal opinions and are more than welcome. It's a free country and you have earned the right to speak your peace...if someone has an issue with it then they can speak with me and I will set them straight.

Going to see the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall tonight with the wife. I will probably never get to see the real one as I will never go back to D.C. and it wasn't there when I was a child when I went. I will snap some pictures and post them up.

I was never in the military. Went through 3 years AFJROTC in high school with plans to go. I wish I would have. THANK YOU, to all of you who did take that route to help keep this the best country in the world.
