It's a bad day when I'm bored yet motivated..... "UPDATED with new PICTURES"

Well, the weather and some service issues are holding me up on my house work so I have had a little time to kill. I have been working on inside stuff but I'm to the point where if I do it will be in the way so I was looking at the Subaru yesterday.

I have hated my radio/guage setup for some time now and I've been thinking with all these "I made my own pod" threads floating around..

This is what I had.

So I decided to take a look at things and put the stock radio back in as the N2 that I have in there overheats and shuts off now due to the heat from being in the clock pod location.. So...

I started to tear into the mess of wiring that I have in the dash and got all pissed off.. I want to fix it and do it right and clean so... I did this...

I guess some things just have to look much, MUCH worse before they begin to look any better. I'm anxious to see a pic after everything is neatly put back together. Good luck with that mess.

Next step for me would be to set the car on fire and collect the insurance money. GOOD LUCK!

Well, with the rain today I was able to take a break from the house and put some time in the Subaru..

I spent some time trying to figure out what I want. I decided on this for now. I want to try and keep it as clean as I can and keep the lines as smooth as possible. Be honest and let me know what you think.

I used ABS Plastic and cut the tubes to work how I want.

I also used the OEM clock relocation pod

After the tubes were fully cut

Bottom view all glued up.

Top view all glued up.

Side View all glued up.

In the car for idea.

I plan to put the pisece back on that I cut off the top to allow me room to work. I will have to notch the top where the tubes are but I will blend that all in with glass. I also have to make sure that the pod will still lock into the bracket or I may have to modify things a little bit..

I wish I was that fearless. I would literally cry if my car looked like that after a day of "working on it." I'm excited to see how your diy pod turns out.

LOL, I've pretty much torn almost every part of this car apart.

Well, I had some time with all the rain that we have been getting up here in PA so I put some time into the gauge pod.

Well, I have it glassed and spent hours smoothing it and working it into shape and I was just not happy with it so it all came off.. That was a JOB.. Well here we go, 2nd attempt..

This time I use some of my wife's panty hose to form what I want it to look like, I hope this works better then the Glass..

Well I was able to send a few hours in the car today cleaning up the mess of wires. Well I am on my way and have a lot of it all cleaned up. However...

I decided to test things out that are cleaned up. Well, I have automated windows tied into my Viper 760. I relocated the modules for the windows out of the footwell sides so the covers will fit again. So I tested the windows.. UP, Down worked properly for all the doors. Windows went up when the alarm was activated.. So far so good.. Well, when I tried to remote start the car the windows went down instead of up like the are suposed to.. LOL... Gotta figure that out..
