It's alive!!!!!

Well got the trans put in and everything bolted up. Going to take it out for a test drive after dinner or maybe tomorrow just depends on how much time I have left. Still have a couple of clients to train and workout myself, so it might be tomorrow.

Short video clip...

This is great!

But honestly, I was expecting lightning, groans, and more "muwahhhahahahah"s...

Well the sun is shining and all the groaning was done while putting it back together.:p

p.s. There was a bit of a groan from me standing up at the end....lol

If this was facebook I would totally "Like" this

I'll second Paul's comment. Its about time you resurrected the old monster. Getting old or is the new routine killing you? I'm sore from leg day yesterday and it hurts to bend over and then stand up straight. Deadlifts and squats kicked my arse....literally ;)

Edit: Look who came back from the dead...Basco.

That's one fine-sounding transmission!

Honestly didnt notice that big of a difference. Granted i have to put some miles on it first.

So after driving the car around for a couple of days I realize that first gear seems a bit steeper than my old gearing. Not sure if it's just me or they are a different ratio. Shifts smooth and doesn't seem to "clank" like my old trans did. All in all I'd say it was a good upgrade for me. Just hoping they live as long as my other ones. I still need to get some pics of the shift fork and it's odd how the gears looked, but they were slightly worn, but not broken.

Having more first gear is ok. Glad it's ok. Subie S fluid?

No I was told not to use that for break in...Might switch after 1000miles though.

pzr2874 09-27-2012 05:57 AM

Weird, didn't you just replace the gears with RA's?

Nope stock 100k+ miles on the original trans. I had thought about replacing them with RA gears a long time ago just for piece of mind, but never did. Mine was a later year 03 so it came with a bit thicker gearset...At least that's what I've been told.

pzr2874 09-27-2012 09:38 AM

So what fluid did you use for "break-in"?
