I'm new! What's up? Got a few questions...

Hey all, I'm a new member from Austin, Tx, and I drive a White WRX 04 Wagon.

A couple of questions:
1) How is all the nomenclature removed? And, does it void any sort of warranty?
2) What type of exhaust system would you reccomend for a Subaru Wnthusiast without a lot of money?
3) Does anyone live near me?

1. Hair dryer and dental floos or anything with heat and then floss. Unless you mess up the paint while taking it off no it wont.
2. Depends on what exhaust you're looking for: turboback or catback. In general, 3 inch downpipe is the best thing and whatever you think sounds best is the best. Shop around.
3. Check on www.nasioc.com seeing how they've a bigger base than this site.

If you want a turboback get the Helix 3" downpipe and any cheap catback.

Modifying exhaust system in California

I have a WRX '02 WGN. Have begun suspension mods, then will be moving to brakes and new rims/tires in January.

I've been researching the performance mods, specifically up-pipe/downpipe and cat-back. Yesterday, I was talking with a pro who said that only authorized state approved techs can remove or replace a catalytic converter.

So, I need to know , what is legal for me to modify in CA?

Can I replace the up-pipe with the Helix flexible up and downpipe, keep the main cat and change the tailpipe?

What are my options?

Thanks in advance for any replies!!!

Do you mean what you can get away with or what is legal? Legally, you can only do a catback exhaust, to pass emissions, a catless uppipe and a turboback w/ at least one cat should do you. Make sure you have no CEL's when you go in.

I want to know legal options. I understand that I can pass smog check with a new up/down and cat-back, but I need to know if I'm pushing it (like when I pull the tags off the mattress).

Try the NASIOC website. They have a Texas regional section on their website.
