Gaaahhh!! Idiot N00bs

ok so last night i went to the strip, a local area people hang out at. so this 06 rex shows up, drives by a couple times hissing his BOV at everyone before parking, this guys never been here before. we get to talking, wlel firs tthimng i tell him is that the bov is bad for his car, and when i tell him i'm a subie guy he says to me"cool you when are you going to start wrenching my car for me?" so i replied "when you take that bov off." then we got into a discussion where he tried to tell me it wasn't that bad for his car, i said maybe as the only mod but you start putting mods on it and you're gonna have problems. of course the only issue i could come up with was a bad idle and i frogot about bad a/f ratios but i told him to get a tbe or atleast a dp and cobb or something. he seemed to listen more than his idiot friend who argued that the bov didn't do anything bad at all even with add'l upgrades. i was going to aks him if he planned headers or a cai but my ride pulled me away and said "we're leaving," so if he's there tonight i'm going to talk to him and see how much of an idiot he really is, ie if he's planning headers and/or cai. manic is also planning on coming down. will let you know how it goes, lol.

I agree with you on the BOV thing but people will defend them to the death. I did a write up on my impressions of venting verses recirculating a while back. I said venting sucks and alot of people jumped my case about it. Some people are sure that a vented bov is not bad for the car.

Meh, I'm one of them, as long as it's a well designed BOV. But I'm too lazy to argue about anything these days.

i have never seen a vented BOV work right. if its letting out air the car thinks is there.. but ends up not being there... how can that be right? sure the car runs a bit rich, but the car is designed like that.. its not designed to be tricked. and yeah some work better than others but im not gonna even get into this hahah.

Gregory-
keep it in the dirt.

There is a sticky about this that covers both sides of the arguments. I wrote it, it's called Blow off Valves 101. If a newb sees this, go read it. No more arguing about this... it drives me up and down the wall, twice, sideways. That's why I wrote the thing.

So who's going to hand the ricer his ass?
