The Evolution of Quattro [AWD] - History Lesson

Folks,
No sure if you were aware of this history, but the origin of the performance Subaru cars we love actually came from VW, back in the time tunnel.

Audi started with the VW Iltis jeep drivetrain [Canadian Military had them until just recently] to make their first Quattro Coupe (1980) which immediately outclassed any FWD and RWD autos in Rally to dominate the sport for a decade.

Our fabulous WRX/STi's were developed through off-road competiton on the WRC circuit to challenge the Quattro Coupe for Rally supremacy. They did pretty well, I may add.

Surprisingly, Citroen has the most WRC Driver's champions by constructor at 9, Subaru has 3 and Audi only 2.
