Kobiyashi - that's awesome work you've done.

As a mechanical engineer, I do understand many of the trade-offs and consequences of tuning, from both a stress and thermodynamic perspective. Your approach respects all of that from the start. Good advice.

It reminds of the time that my 14 year old nephew told me about how he was going to put a bottle in his first car. He had spent way too much time watching "The Fast and Furious", I think. I explained that he needed about $5K to do it without the risk of blowing rods out the side of the block someday. He just looked at me like I was nuts.

The whole voided warranty thing gives me a lot of pause. It might be best to wait until the car is off warranty, which will be a couple years here.

And the marriage stress factor that you mentioned right off the bat, too. For me, it's also an available time factor. I like to work hard and play hard, but at 46, I try to do it with some balance and respect for body, mind, soul, etc. It's boring, but it beats the alternatives of trying to patch together a busted-out life due to bad decisions. Do I have $10K for all of the necessary mods that will get me north of 300 hp? Yes, I could, but, ultimately, not really....

Nevertheless, driving my bone stocker is still a blast.
