Am I a Gen X/Y Poser?

I am sitting here grinning from ear to ear.

I just bought a 2003 WRX Sportwagon last night. Subtle yellow. Not many of them around.

I am 46. This is my fourth Subaru, over the last ten years, and our other car is a Forrester. We are 100% Subaru in this house now.

So, I am tooling around tonight and a Civic rolls up beside me, and the slackers inside roll down their tinted windows to get a good look at the Yellow WRX Wagon. HA! My wife couldn't believe it. A couple of tuner kids checking out an old man's car!

Back in my 20s, I owned two Porsches, two BMWs (one very orange 2002), and and Alfa Romeo GTV. I like colorful cars, so I can deal wth the "middle age crisis" heat from friends and family, which has already started. Screw 'em

Man, this WRX is one helluva car. I think it is faster than my 1972 911. Makes me feel 22 again. Now, where's my wife....

Anyhow, this looks like a great website....

breaks out calculator... So in 2002, you were in your twenties, and you are 46 in 2004... did I miss a decade?

Welcome to the WRX. You'll enjoy it, I know I have. Though, the urge to mod has bitten me, which is somehow connected to pure evil I'm sure.

HAHAH. Dont forget the blue pill jk. But I dont think you are poser at all. People buy performance cars regardless of their age. And not every single person who buys a WRX, buys it to tune it and race. They are reliable cars that just happen to be fast and fun.
I would take a Porsche GT2 over a WRX though anyday

Ha Blue the BMW 2002 was a "low priced pocket rocket" Car & Driver likened the original Sentra SE-R as a modern day BMW 2002. It was small and had a strong motor for its day.

Note: I am unsure if you were being sarcastic.

Thanks

Looks like A lot of Virginia boyz in here. Frankly, I bought this car to slam around the piedmont. Western Loudoun has excellent some snake pavement.

Ok - a couple of dumbass questions, if I could. - my car has intercooler and a boost guage. Is this stock? If not, I need to find out what else the previous did to it.

Also, the Tuning Guide on this site says to add a K & N, and a boost guage. How does a boost guage enhance performance? Sure, I can watch the neeedle peg out, and enjoy it when it does, but is there a way to use it to modify they way I drive the car?

Tut4u2 - is there a good tuner shop here in NoVA? Narrus, like you, if I spend any more time on this board, then I'll be spending money at some shop. But I would like to go to a Subaru pro who can lay out a plan and a budget that makes sense. Haphazard mods does not sound like the right way to go here.

Cosmo - SONIC Yellow it will be from now on. Can't wait to tell my mom that. BTW- don't take this the wrong way, but, a nice front end you have there. What brand are those panels?

Overall, it looks like graphics are not too cool among WRXers. Better to go fast than look fast, eh? How about a nice subtle pin job in a good contrasting color, like sky blue/red twist, on top of the sonic yellow?

Would like some black wheels, too, but only if they are lighter weight, otherwise, why bother. Does anyone know know a good brand that has a spiderweb spoke style? Can I inch up? does it matter.

The side mirrors are way too small. Suggestions?

Narrus, jwtarbaj is right. The BMW 2002 was the last good Bimmer, a really cool little car, and I owned a 320i, too. After that, BMW became very expensive to own, and even more expensive to fix a used one. But I can't wait to meet a z3/4 on the road now.

And one more thing... Tut4u2, as to the blue pills..hey I'm old, but not dead yet! But if you have any extras to spare...

Btw, Tut4u2, the Porsche sounds good to me too, but if you are out on Rt 28, check out the Ferrari GTO and 250 California Spider at Ferrari of Washington. About $6 Million worth of wheels...

Thanks to all...

The intercooler is stock on 99% of turbo charged cars, and the other 1% are cars that have really small engines and arent pushing more than 7 psi. The factory boost gauge is a factory option and is not stock.
K&N filter is a good investment along with taking out the silencer. As for a boost gauge, it adds no performance and is only for looks. If you want rims, I know someone selling black 17in SSR Rota rims that come with a HTR tires for 450 or 300 if you wanna trade him your stocks wheel; keep the stockers for the winter though if are getting new rims.
As for tuning shops, there are couple but I wouldnt bother going to any. If you need any work done just do it yourself, and if you need help just ask around the forum, or PM and I could help you out since we are pretty close.

sorry forgot the /sarcasm tags. Just found that reference funny. Thus the

And in reference to the blue pill, for all you 'old guys', that wouldn't happen to say "viagra" on the side would it? (I'll never be old, I'm still 25 dangit! It was the last b-day anything changed)
