wierd bumping sound

Whenever I turn the steering wheel to the left or right sharply, like turning into a parking space for example, I hear this loud bump sound about every half a second and it just keeps going until i turn the wheel straight again. any ideas on what it is? thanks

do you have to be moving for this sound to occure? is it harder to turn the wheel? does it feel like your encountering and obstruction as you turn the wheel?

i would say its the power steering pump. maybe the gear mechanism that connects the pump to the belt is slipping splines.

yes i do have to be moving, no its not really harder to turn the wheel it just feels like the car is having trouble turning or something its kinda hard to explain.

but ok so you think its the power steering pump then?

when you say 'turn sharply' do you mean when you turn the wheel quickly, or when you at the limit of the steering, ie aproching the rack stops.

if you have to be moving its probably more likley a suspension issue.

jump in your car and turn the wheel with the car off and leme know if you still hear the sound.

what size wheels and tiers do you have?

if you get uner the car and look at the body work, suspension, and tire wall can you see any rubbing?
