just for clarification I'm not going 100-120-> 0 , more like 120-> 45, 100->25- still a significant braking event however in the scheme of things

I've since found out that most oe pads are closer to .3 mu, race pads .5-.7 ~ double the friction

I've also found that oe pads in a single "significant" braking event can easily go from .3 to .1 or even less- w/ a 3000 lb car combined w/ relatively small rotors to dissipate heat this could be more common than one thinks- clearly not in a "typical" 60-> 0 test, but quite possibly at higher speeds???

I agree in principle yes. Even moderate race conditions make the stock break pads far from ideal.
