Hey Guys Im looking for some help and ideas
Since Christmas is coming up, im thinking handlin!
I live on the East Coast where the roads are crazy windy. I love pushing my car to the limits in the bends. I push my 06 WRX hard every time i drive it. Its time for an upgrade.
For the Next two years i want to compete in AutoX and RallyX biweekly. I will hop on some other tracks but these two will be my main focus.
The Only Handling Mods i have are TEIN Struts Rear & Front and NRG H Chassis Brace.
So now im thinkin Coilovers! Recommendations??
I was thinkin TEIN WINDING MASTER MONO FLEXs w/EDFC(What you think?)
Then some Whiteline Endlinks(Are these metal on metal?)
Then after Christmas i will get some sways.(Adjustable)
If anyone here has Monoflexs hit me up cause i have some more questions.
Thanks

stock WRX handle fine. get a rear sway if you dont like the understeer, or do what i do and just carry more entry speed. get power mods. think about suspension when you break 400whp.
the best way to make the car do what you want in a low speed scenario like autox, is more power.
I strongly disagree with that statement, In a RWD car maybe but not in an AWD car.
The car understeers like a pig on an autoX course. One of the fastest cars here is a 01 2.5rs with basically a stock engine and all suspension and the guy is ridiculously fast, only been drivng for a year and a half too.
To carry more entry speed you need more turn in and grip therfore you need suspension mods.

I defected to an evo :)
it is classified as a suspension mod and it is something you would be stupid to overlook. Plainly obvious maybe, but the guy is asking so we might as well answer fully.
I like the solid endlinks upgrades as well. I don't think they make the handling much better (at least at my level) but they give me much more... obvious... feedback which is helpful when you're not the world's best driver.
autox and rallyx are two very different disciplines requiring pretty different setups- if your going to be doing both you'll likely have to opt for something in the "middle"- keep your sway bars moderate, keep your spring rates moderate, keep your ride heights moderate
coilovers won't be the way to go IMO- possibly the Tein HG setup as the exception
I think you'll be able to better meet the nees of both w/ a traditional spring/strut setup
obviously tire/wheel needs are going to be very different- no compromise on this one, you'll need two sets of wheels/tires IMO
I will be doing twice as much autox, than rallyx. So i be compromising for rallyx and running a cheap set of rims and tires.
I really don't want this car to be too low. Im ok w/ it being a little lower than stock. But this is a east coast street car, so i don't wanna be a freakin idiot. haha
Pretty much WRXKid hit it on the head with the guy hes talkin about. I just wanna do some serious work on the suspension. Plus ive taken classes and read tons of books, i still got flaws, but i can tell the car is holdin me back. I know tires are 20% of the fight, but honesly the car DOES need work.
If anyone can lead me to someone who has alot of suspension experience and knowledge that would help a ton

I dont want to sound like an ass but if you plan on comprimising on the rally cross your gonna wind up hating yourself in the end. I used rally cross and Autox on the same medium type of setup BigSky was talking about; in the endyou dont get the kin of results your gonna hope for from either disipline. IMO start autoX than slowly get the pats you need to put your RallyX etup together than wen your ready to make the change do it and rock it. Just an opinion from a guy thats been in the same spot before.
Ya and BigSky knows what hes talkng about ive read his posts before. If your really interested in RallyX suspension just hit me up and I'll try to guide you as bes I can
every setup starts w/ optimizing grip w/ tire selection- this is the area that you absolutely don't skimp- you need to start here
before getting caught up in the whirl wind of modding, decide what class(s)-if your going to be doing both) your going to compete in- be VERY familiar w/ the rule sets- I've seen lots and lots of folks disappointed to find a simple mod bumped them into a class they did not want to be in
I no a bunch of WRX owners that run a bone stock WRX engine wise and have a TON of work put into their suspensions. That might be due to really tight autox tracks, but if you do mods that get you a lot of lag, you will never get into boost and then what is the point of having a FI car. Just pick up a NA civic. I say the WRX has enough power in stock form to run in most autox courses. Work on grip in your tires and suspension if you are going to be spending a majority of your race days in a parking lot than in the dirt. Just my opinion though.
