I'm running them at the stock specs. They're stated as an "all-season performance tire" etc. Well they do kick butt concerning rain, dry, dirt etc as far as decent performance. But today i just went on the snow for the first time with this new set i put on at the end of spring 06 and let me tell you... they blow. It felt like i was running on bald tires the way it was affecting snow driving. Any recommendations for snow tires ? I know blizzaks are popular. But since we just got this first snow... i do not know how long it'll stay here in indiana. What do you guys think as far as a winter tire.... and has anyone else had this kind of experience with the proxes 4 ?
my proxes blow my left nut on snow. and i run blizzaks in the winter. they get good dry traction for a snow tire so i dont see anyreason not to run them.
Really it takes a snow tire to do well in any significant snow, an all season tire can be acceptable and safe, but to really bite in the white stuff, get a set of winter treads.
i also had the proxes 4 's on my lancer and ther were great in the rain and dry, but they suck ass in the snow, good thing it dosent snow much in Seattle because its time for new tires and I was (am) getting the proxes 4's, but now I have to think about it more.
Does anyone know of a good all season that also works good in the snow?
My main attraction to the Proxes 4 when i bought them was the fact that they're badass in both rain and dry. I get a lot of rain in my part of indiana for around 3/4's of the year on and off. I would gladly switch to the summer tire/ winter tire setup.... but i want a summer tire that can handle rain just as good as dry. Winter tires i'm sure are the blizzak setup are the best choice for me since they're relatively cheap. Anyways ... got any suggestions for my summer tire that kicks the rain's ass and does good on dry ?
id stick with the proxes as your summer set and get some blizzaks for your winter. i havent heard anyone really rant about any other good wet/dry tire.

Evo is gone :(
Now I got nothing.
I lived in CT. prior to being here and had no problems.
If it makes you feel any better. A month ago we had 9 inches in my area. and a few other flurries of 3 inches or so with plenty of slush and ice the week after each storm
What a bunch of girls. I've been driving mine in the 3 snowy/icy storms and I haven't had a problem.
its because its pretty flat in mount vernon. seattle has tons of steep hills, its not a matter of going, its stopping. Check out this video from Portland last week http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPE8vL5hlFA thats what seattle was like also, it dosent matter what tires you have when your tring to stop on a steep ass hill on solid ice.

BFG T/A Touring...
they're good in all conditions but are not ultra high performance dry tires. You're not going to find much better tires that are great in all conditions though unless you spend some serious money (and they'll have crap tredlife too).

That is what i thought, I have BFG G-force sports on now and they are pretty good in the dry, but not so much in the wet. I'm just going to get snow tires on my stock rims now and in the spring just get some new rims and tires.

yeah the hills would be an issue, I hate the hills in Seattle. Way too damn steep. Sometimes I'm happy that I can get stopped at the bottom even when it's dry. It's better going down the hills than up though.
