Too much play in AWD

I just recently got my 03 wrx and when we got blasted with this snow 3 weeks ago, i took the car out for a drive to see how it handled. While i was driving straight the car seemed to swerve and fish tail back in forth [side to side] on the road. Does anyone have any suggestions of what could be wrong?

When you were "driving straight", did you have your foot on the gas ?

How deep is the snow? What tires are you running and how good is your tread? And how fast were you driving? There are a lot of factors.

I am with Vew. There are alot of factors. I know if I give it some gas in the snow, the rear end pushes out to the passanger side. A set of bad/worn tires makes it even worse. Was the back end going back and forth constantly or was it going lets say going right when you were on the gas and then left when you let off (repeat)?
Also, welcome and good luck
