suspension parts question

So I was talking with a guy from Cobb who said he ran my same car ('06 WRX) with an _04 STI struts with the Cobb coilovers, and that it is an incredible ride. my question is: where can i get a set of these struts? i spoke with the dealer and they wouldn't let me buy them, so I was wondering if any of you know where? Thanks a million

Your 06 wrx struts are fine. Im pretty sure that theyre just as good if not better than an 04 sti. Also, if youre doing coilovers, thats all u need. Coilovers are one piece, strut and spring, and that is the best thing u can get, but its a lot of money. I just did tein springs and it rides really nice and stiff.

Check out www.boxer4racing.com for the struts, they might have them.

My car is well, it's like 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag...

I don't understand why a dealer wouldn't let someone buy parts? That seems a little odd.

Takeoffs are easy to come by- both usdm and jdm. New they are rather spendy, but they are new .

The 06 WRX does not in any way shape or form even resemble the STi strut. Completely different designs and damping. Mono tube vs twin tube, inverted vs non inverted, different pistons sizes. The STi strut is significantly firmer damped than the WRX strut- night and day.

Cobb springs are not a "coilover" design, simply springs (firmer/shorter) to replace the oe ones- coilover generally refers to a height adjustable setup ie adjustable spring perch.

One FYI the Cobb springs are low- 2"/1.5"- I think one is much better off in the 1" range from a performance standpoint- esthetics- well that varires from person to person.

STi's have stiffer springs and complimenting struts compared to the WRX. That's probably why Cobb said to use them. The fact that you're comparing an 04 to an 06 has nothing to do with it.
