porsche brake calipers on WRX/STi

i was reading an issue of SubieSport and they had an article on the new Litchfield's Type-25 STi. It had an optional 6pot porsche brake upgrade you can order with the car.

now my question is...
i was wondering if i could do this to a 02 WRX. would Porsche brake calipers fit in place of the our stock calipers? will any other good looking calipers from anyother cars fit?

The word "kit" means the probably have machined parts/brakets to make those calipers fit and operate correctly. You can't just go and swap out your calipers for just any other and it fits/works properly.Besides there are about a hundred big brake kits already out for WRX's.

1k big brake kit is extremely cheap.

i would expect to spend 3-4k for all 4 wheels.

I doubt you could get a set of Porshe 6-pots for less than $1K.

Just for the record ... did you know that the 350Zs, STIs, Volvo s70R(I think thats the model), Porsche Cayman, Dodge SRTs and I think there is one more but either way, they all run the same Brembo calipers ... they are interchangable! Promise!

Now I'm not saying that you could just drop a set of porsche brakes on your car ... I'm just saying that brembo calipers that are used on those cars are all interchangable. I've compared and even swaped to see what would happen.

And second to that .... you're not gonna get a set of porsche brakes cheaper than and aftermartket set for the WRX

I stand corrected. The one more would probably be the EVO 8.But with a WRX you got nothing. Some people have swapped out brakes between Subarus but is generally involves needing the whole hub assembly and possibly the axles as well.

EVO Brembo's while they share the same piston diameters and pad shape w/ the STi Brembos - are NOT a direct bolt up= the mounting ears are different.

If I had to fathom a guess the other "oe" Brembo offerings would also be different in some respect. Can they be made to fit ie w/ the correct adapter- certainly. Does it take a lot of work to insure the adapter fits correctly- very much so.

Also remember brake bias when looking into upgrading calipers- the WRX is already very front biased out of the factory- adding bigger piston four pots/rotors up front would aggrevate this further- not a recipe for improved braking at all.
