I am wanting to lower my 08 hatchback wrx. What brands are best for lowering springs? Should i get swaybars to help handling? if so what brands are best? I am new to tuning and am i trying to learn as much as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Sway bars are a great mod for handling. Look into brands like whiteline, hotchkis and Rallitek. Im not much up to date about the 08s let alone suspension other than sway bars. But get in contact with TiC (Turn in Concepts), hear alot of great things about them. Remember when adding a stiffer spring rate its highly likely that your stock struts will wear out faster so just keep that in mind also.
Meh those Perrin Sways are fine, but I am not a fan of H&R springs (too much drop) or Perrin Endlinks (previous gen links were noisy). Also, at those prices ($785 for soft, $823 for hard + $57 shipping) I could come up with something better IMHO for a tiny bit more $.....
5) Front endlinks - ask TIC about this b/c I am not sure if Kartboy has '08 hatchback fitment (I know they have for the '08 Sedan)
IMHO those are just better quality parts right there. WL rear sway comes w/rear mount reinforcements and the Kartboy Endlinks are arguably the best on the market. As for the Swift Springs, they will lower about 1 inch front/rear, which will be much easier on your stock struts. This would make a great setup for a spirited daily driver.
The ALK may not sound like much of a mod, but it really made a good improvement in handling on the previous gen WRXs (02-07) and it is one of my favorite suspension mods on my '05. The subframe brace is suppost to be a real good mod for the hatchback and makes more of a difference for the '08 WRX than the previous gen.
However, before you purchase anything (as newtothegame suggested) contact TIC. The guys Tony and Clint over there really know suspension and I am sure they can put together a great package for you.
I have heard some great things about Perrin. I have never been in a car with their sways or springs on it. From reading the description of both the "Soft" and "Hard" kits the difference is the sway bar sets. The springs are the same for both. I have always been told that bigger is better (for at least the rear sway). So I would go with the "Hard" kit, but thats just me. I have never known the actual sway bars to increase NVH, its usually the type of endlinks you run that increase it.
Then I would add the same Swift Sport Springs and you would be out the door for around $750. However, if it were my choice I would spend extra $175 or so for the setup in my first post.
Yes, Swift is an excellent brand (one of the best) and highly regarded in the Subaru community. Yep, it is everything you need. However, I HIGHLY recommend you contact TIC and discuss it with them.
What do you think? Is there anything else i will need? I am new to all of this so please please please if you have any suggestions or i need to change something all feedback is welcomed and GREATLY APPRECIATED

I would look for an 18x8 or 17x8 wheel. I am not sure if the Kartboy Front endlinks fit the hatch (make sure to ask TIC).
I would also get the ALK or the 4-point brace (i linked earlier) over a front strut bar, or even a rear strut bar (rear bars are suppost to be a better mod for the hatch/wagon).
are you daily driving this thing?? if so i'd watch out how far you go you can defineately make her hug the corners but if you go stiffening up everything she'll end up being a girl with a hell of an attitude!! done suspention mods one at a time... jus a thought!
Hell I've only done the Perrin Hard swaybars and endlinks on my car and I love it. I don't plan on lowering it since there are a lot of crappy dips around here that I already scrape on. If I did decide to drop it an inch then it would be saweet. Don't forget tires though. Better tires (especially on the 08) will DRAMATICALLY improve your skidpad.
Great information for this link. I just bought an 07 wrx sedan. I am wondering if STI sway bars would be a good way to go. O r look at whiteline instead? I am really looking forward to improving me suspension set up. Dont hold it against me but i have, bought it brand new, 1997 honda civic hatchback. Suspension technique sway bars front and rear. tokico shocks and springs front and rear. Energy suspension bushing through out suspension. Thing rides like a go cart. so much fun. New car feels very soft compared to this. i dont want as hard as a suspension in the subaru but want to increase handling. So far the advice given has been helpful! keep it up. any ideas would be welcome..
Look into something more than just the STI bars for your WRX. Whiteline, Hotchkis, and Rallitek are all highly recommended my my shop. Dont forget to look into endlinks also.
