new snow tires for an 06

Im picking up my new to me 06 today at the subbie dealer and the first thing im going to have to do is slap some snow tires on it. It has the factory rubber right know and i was calling around t oprice snow tires and a question came up as to weather a 16" universal snow rim would work due to larger brake callipers. It isnt an sti, its a wrx tr and it has stock 17" rims, im just wondering if i could go with a 16" rim and tire or if i had to stay with 17's. Also any suggestions on new rubber for spring/summer/falll driving, ### next i wil be putting new tires on my factory rims for when the roads are good. Thanks

i have blizzak lm-25's on my 06 and i love them! there a performance winter tire and not a snow and ice tire but thats why i got them because the snow/ice blizzaks tend to be to soft for me

check out hankook w409 i pike's ......i put these on my 06 stock 17's and had no issues at all this winter. Grip in the ice and snow is wonderful. Also, these bastards are pretty cheap as well.

Garage
prob want 185-205 wide for winter just FYI... wider is not better in the snow.

yea thinner is better but for a direct replacement these tires are remarkable if you get them studded. you wont find a better tire for the money.
