I was looking at getting a set of rims and tires, but the tires that are on them are the Falken fk451 215/40/17. Was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with these tires in the rain and snow. Since i live in Pa and drive every other weekend to visit my girl at college (3hr drive north ) they need to be able to get me moving in the north Pa winters. Did some research and some were happy, others disgusted so i was wondering if any of you had some info. Thanks alot!
I live in Northeast PA not far south of the NY border (susquehanna county), and I just rotate wheels, keep ones for summer with summer tires, and keep my stock rims with winter tires... it saves wear and tear on your rims. Get an agressive winter tire for the cold months, your car will go like a raped ape in the snow with them.
If you're coming from Chambersburg driving 3 hrs north, your girlfriend must be up by me then., what college does she go to?
you will need a 215/45/17 to keep the spedo close, the 225/45 is the same size as stock. I have not use this tire but with a AA traction rating these are not winter rubber. In the rain you should be fine.
that's what i figured......go with the blizzaks for the snow! she goes to misericordia, in dallas, pa. just gotta try to figure out how to pay for both! thanks alot guys, anyone with personal experience, feel free to post up and let me know!
To the thread starter, I've had FK-451's on my 94 Eagle Talon for a complete summer, and loved them. They really attack the road. I love them in the rain, and they dont waiver at all. The price is really good too.
Just an FYI, they dont make the FK-451 anymore. They have the new style 452 now which has better tread blocks on the edges.

I have several friends that go to Miseri (and several more that graduated from there), and I visit there often... I live about 1/2 hour to 45 min from Dallas.
A cheap set of all season tires is all you should need. I ran my summer all winter last year. With the AWD you shouldn't need snow tire.
+1 2sets of tires is ideal but i have run both the Falkien ZE-512's and the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX's (they are both AA/A all weather tires) and both were great in dry, rain and light snow(6-9").I just don't need that much performance to need a dedicated summer tire as i don't track at all hardly and i don't drive it like i stole it on the street.

speedo, I've probably seen you around then, i drive an 04 in WR Blue with a cat-back as of now. leaving to go up there on friday, if i see you ill wave! thanks for the info guys, keep the experiences coming! and about the 451's....the guys had them on his rex for 100 miles, so the tires are newish, guess he just bought them a while ago.
Ideally you would want a set of winter tires and a set for the summer.
For winter I am partial to the Nokian RS1's, for summer I actually like my Hankook hrII 405's. I have never been a big fan of Falken's.
