brake pad break in

im getting some rotors and hawk hps front pads put in and they require a "break in procedure" for proper Burnishing and the box says dont use the brakes in till you do the procedure but the problem is there are not a lot of streets around the shop where i can take my car up to 35-0mph 10 times and then 65-0mph 3 times so is it ok if i drive to a safer place to perform break in? i dont want to mess up my new brake pads!!!!

I would break them in the right way, that way they sit correctly on the rotor you dont want irregular brake wear I would choose the safe place.

driving to a safe place won't hurt anything

I'm suprised they say stop to 0, most bed-in procedures call for something just short of a full stop (5 mph for most)

yea i found that strange as well! i asked the guy at the shop i ordered the pads from what i should do about break in and he said that he had to call a tech from the hawk company one time about an unrelated issue and he told him that as long as you just take it easy on the brakes for the first 100 miles that will be a more than efficient break in

Well I agree with Mike on taking it down to 5mph for the bedding procedure.
