I removed the big box in the fender. I replaced it with a nice velocity stack the sits flush on the fender well and then goes into the airbox. Also has a "plug" for the hole left from the OE intake scoop under the hood.

Worth it? I guess. I'd rather pull cold air from that fender instead of it go through that snorkel and then into that box.

I got it in a kit from TCG motorsports. It include the velocity stack, silicone hose and a "plug" for the fender where the factory scoop enters. It was about $75 i think.

Yeah Ive got this, it is essentially useless.
Makes no power, and the velocity stack actually extends pretty far into the airbox, so only about half of the airbox is being used.
not recommended. just do the silencer removal and buy an ITG filter for $50

WRXfx Intake mod

I have absolutly no clue what this mod is or what it intales what i was looking on another subbie enthusiasts website and everyone call it this "wrxfx intake mod". Can anyone help me? But speaking of intake mods, who has taken the whole assembly out of the fender and just left the box in? Was it worth the time?
