haha, am I the only one who thinks our cars sound like they're missing a cylinder? haha. I like the sound, don't get me wrong, just the Boxer sound isn't loved by all. Some love it, some hate it.

My G200 sounds pretty nice - tone is great. Not like a V-8. but closer to one than what most 2.0's sound like. Never heard a WRX that sounds like a Corvette, lol, I'm pretty sure the timing on the engine makes that impossible since it's a Boxer but *shrugs.* Tone-wise I guess, but the tone is from the unequal headers, the rumbly growl and "puttering" sound comes from the fact that our Boxer engine, like a Porsche minus 2 cylinders.

WRX's have a very deep tone. I bought a TBE and when it idles outside my house, I get comments like, "Whos Mustang is that out there?" I havent heard a WRX that sounded like a Civic. Im not sure what exhaust has the deepest tone, but, you dont have to worry about sounding like a Civic.

I have from this guy I know, but I can almost gurantee you he got equal length headers. Anyways, when I idle outside our kitchen, our windows rattle. That's a deep exhaust

My first post here, great site, but come on!

No WRX 4cyl will ever sound like an American V8. I'm just about to buy a WRX in a week or so, and I'm building a '62 Nova, so I am not biased. I've heard plenty of subes with different exhausts, yes some are deep, but to think it sounds even close to a V8 is silly.

Modern V8's like the corvettes, do sound a lot more mellow with a mild cam and quiet factory exhaust. A WRX could maybe sound similar at idle....but almost any car has a deep sound with aftermarket exhaust at idle.

Here is a refresher of what a V8 sounds like:

Borla Header(Unequal), Turbo Xs Up-Down-Cat Adapter Pipes, Megan(Not Mugen) Cat back Exhaust and I get older guys saying sound more like a V8 than a four banger. Going Cat-less is when I really noticed a difference. To be honest, sounds better and meaner Idling. Not as good when under load.
