Wondering how to launch my WRX

I drive a 02' Subaru WRX with some modifications. Blowoff Valve, K&N typhoon intake and catback exhaust, and i am looking at putting in headers. I do a little street racing now and then. I have done pretty good but my question is this, what is the best way to launch off the start. I am not really looking at putting in a new clutch at this point so I am wondering what RPM and how to release the clutch without doing much damage to the stock clutch. I am looking for the best way to do this with a fast launch time and with minium damage to the clutch. Any input would be greatly appricated.

Thanks Phil

Its your choice: drop the clutch and hurt the tranny or slip it and burn the clutch.
There is no way to take off quick without something taking some stress.

I usually hold it at 4-5k and slip the clutch out pretty fast. There is no real damage done to the clutch, however you will need to replace it alot sooner. When worring about damages to the drivetrain, your biggest concern should be your transmission, specifically your gears, they have a tendence to get stripped when abused to much.

As for the header, I don't suggest it, the stock manifold does quite nicely. I believe most people on here will tell you to stay away from them as well. I personally know someone who has a low 13sec car and took his header off and put back on the stock exhaust manifold. He told me it was the worst $500 he ever spent on his car. I would say get a uppipe (my suggestion is Helix) and a downpipe that will bolt up to your cat-back exhaust. They will run you about the same cost as a header would anyway and should give you much better performance gain.

Uhh...launching your car is going to do damage no matter what. One of my friends just traded in his 02 WRX and got a brand new Legacy and I went to the dealership with him to pick it up. So, while he was signing papers and stuff one I went and talked to some of the mechanics and this guy showed me a clutch from a WRX that had been dropped from 6k 5 times and it was COMPLETELY shredded. So yeah, any type of launching is gonna hurt.

True, but I ment the clutch is going to wear out much quicker then if you just use it for daily driving. The clutch is ment to wear out so I don't know if I would call it damage. Thats kind of like saying slamming on the brakes while doing 100 and stoping is going to damage the brakes, while it will wear them out alot fast I don't call that damage, but then again everyone will have their own opinion on that.

A clutch isn't meant to wear out. If you know how to drive a stick, the clutch will hold up for a long time. True everything in the car is going to wear out, but a clutch isn't meant to wear out like brake pads, air filter, etc.

A clutch, mostly the friction disc, is most deffinitly ment to wear out. Just like brake pads. The disc only wears when it is slipping.
