Port and Polish the Stock Manifold elbows and get a high flow cross-pipe.

i have bought these, or better,-similar headers with an uppipe that came with the set. They are an equal length design. Mine were located in Illinois and not CA, as seems with the one you are posting.
The install was relatively straight forward. The exhaust outlets lined up with the stock header, but the openings for the studs were a little off. We had to drill out the holes to match. I picked mine up last August and reused stock metal Subaru gaskets as the header came with paper-crap gaskets. Fit really well and no leaks or cracks so far. Not a bad deal for $120, plus i wanted to test and see if it works. It worked. Also, i wrapped mine...
The sound changed a LOT! But it is much quiter during everyday driving. Sounds meaner at WOT...
As far as spool characteristics, I did not notice a difference at low rpm but at high. Untill a retune that is. In any case you need to retune to maximize the gain. I had a retune and the turbo started spooling a lot faster and holds pressure till red line better.
At that price you are taking a risk, but we could all say do it for us! Really though, if you get them, inspect all the welds, if the slip joints are not welded--weld them, etc.
Good luck.

Headers won't really help your spool, they will help in the top end.

Since the Inside diameter is bigger and since they are stainless instead of cast you lose a lot of heat.

Heat + small pipe diameter = faster exhaust gas flow which means faster spool.

Bigger pipes with less heat retention will flow more air but at a slower pace so in a sense can actually hurt your spool a little bit, but will help the top end out a decent amount.

At the very least heat wrap it.

I would get it coated and heat wrapped. The more heat you can retain, the cooler the engine bay temps, hotter exhaust -> faster flow -> faster spool. But also remember with welds, if they are not super good they can crack from vibrations and heat, which is what the flew pipe is for but you still may end up cracking a weld. IMO if you really want headers go name brand, its unusual for me to say that but for something that experiences that type of consistent heat I would spend the extra bucks to avoid headaches later.

You still may lose some spool but IMO the top end makes up for it better.

fyi I'm almost certain those headers will leak. I've had a set... you need to get the slip flanges welded.

To those that claim claim these headers will spool later... they don't. Without any coating or wrap, they spooled at least AS quick, if not quicker than my pnp'd stock manifolds.

I agree with Robert about going name brand on headers. It's really a pain to swap them out over and over, especially these particular ones. One of the nuts is situated so you can only really use a wrench and almost no leverage to tighten it. The piping is really thin, the welds suck, and the chances of them cracking will increase if you coat or wrap them (which you should). I've made the mistake of going with cheap headers before, and let me tell you... I'm not going back that route again. But it looks like I spoke up too late... you already bought them.
