some weird kid told me today that if i remove this hose at a t-bar connection, he said it returns to the wastegate, that i will get 17lbs of boost safely. is this possible, and is it totally safe to do?
What that will do is not allow your wastegate to open at all, and you will have no boost control. Your turbo will keep spooling as long as you give the car gas. You will get way more than 17 pounds of boost, and nothing about it will be safe.
HELL TO THE NO! Just like Cosmo said. You will have no control over what your turbo is doing, and one day you will just hear an ugly "clank clank" sound. Then you're done. If this is a friend that told you that, then you might not want to listen to anything else he tells you. If he is a mechanic, then don't do business with him anymore. It's not worth the busted heads.
Yeah man, that is a definite negatory on disconnecting a wastegate hose. Any time someone tells you you can just disconnect something or take something off without doing anything else, be very wary of it. Subaru engineers arent idiots and they dont put shit on their cars that is of no use.
P.S. Does your friend belong to NASIOC? Seriously though... !Laugh!
U think maybe he miss understod and the guy was telling him about the 3/16ths mod?
