Walbro HP fuel pump

I am upgrading my fuel pump w/ the malbro high output pump and I was looking over the install on the scooby forum and he tells you to use zipties to hold the pump in place but he does not tell what kind of tie to use. how long will a ziptie last in your gas tank? have any of you done this? I put a ziptie in a jar of gas today to see if it starts to brake down. it would suck if the zip just melted in the gas and my pump is just flopping around in there thanks

I have been reading some of the install guides on scoobymods and it doesn't say anything about ziptie's. I will be installing my walbro pump this weekend and I'll let you know how it goes.

i never use a zip tie when I install them, the pump comes with a new rubber mount that holds it in place.

it dosent matter how much gas you have because you pull the whole assembly out the top of the tank.

I used the extra tube that comes with the pump, and no I didnt cut the metal line, not sure why you woul have to do that.the pump fits in there fine

yeah Im not sure why he did that. I just did a walbro on my car and the fuel pumps were the same size. the only thing that is different was the rubber base, you have to use the one that comes with the walbro.

Back from the dead ...

Is it ok to do the replacement w/out doing a tune ? I will be getting my tune, but not till after x-mas.

Let me guess...... I know you all might say "don't do it till you are about to tune"... Right ??

I know i'm in the 02-05... but pretty much the same ?

Well, I will be adding later on, other stuff.... injectors and such and a pro-tune. So, by itself is ok... nothing else needed ?

you can just put a walbro in there and go, you dont have to get a tune for a bigger pump, and if you cant use the factory mounting hardware for a walbro then use a metal hose clamp instead of a zip tie, when people start to stack up like two or even 3 walbro fuel pumps they just use hose clamps.
