Walbro 255lph fuel pump install

Ok so I found a very well written and detailed DIY on scoobymods by "subedude" on this install. My question is, is it necessary to cut and modify the fuel supply tubing in order to fit the Walbro pump? The write up mentions how the Walbro pump mounts upside down compared to the stock one so the lines won't align and that's why you need to hack it up. Is this true?

The link is:

Thanks in advance!

na, not true. THat mofo will fit in there, upright too. I"m not sure where the upside down thing came from! Fit's just right in my experience, without the bottom rubber gromet that it is If you want to keep the gromet, you'll need to trim the hoses. When you take out the assembly you'll see what i means.

Ah so it is a direct replacement or "plug and play" as long as you don't use that rubber bottom thingy? That's definitely good to hear. I wasn't really looking forward to hacking that stuff up.

for me it was a direct drop in, i couldn't fit the rubber gromet on the buttom, but my FP was in there snug as a bug, and it taint going anywhere.
