vf34

Hey guys..
I would like to hear your comment on this.
I am thinking of putting a vf34 on my 04 WRX.
What would be the pros and cons considering that I would
put an APS turbo back, APS uppipe and short ram at the same time?
By the way, no engine management for now...
Lack of budget.. !Cry!

No engine management = no turbo

But, once you get some engine management, it's a great turbo. But just too risky without any engine management.

Yeah cosmo is right with out engine management you sholdnt up grade the turbo.. Getting a good dyno tune will give you more power and be alot safer also.. the vf34 is a good daily driver turbo.. it isn't laggy and makes nice power.. you will probly want to run a bigger tmic with the vf34 though.. if you funds cant buy the engine management then i doubt you can afford buying a new motor..

Seriously, you might want to do the turbo later. Get your car ready for it. You know, exhaust, knew bov for the extra pressure, definitly a bigger intercooler, and engine management is a must. I'm going with the ecuteck reflash. But don't just change the turbo, without changing the fuel system and engine management system. You won't be happy with what you will have done to your car.

VF-34 or VF-39???

hey, wanting to upgrade turbo, intercooler, etc., just not sure what turbo or tmic i want. it is a daily driver so i have to be practical. will more than likely go IHI for the price, can anyone give me a little insight on which one (turbo and tmic) to go with.

VF34 is the better turbo. The VF-39 is the STi turbo if I'm not mistaking, and its very similar to the stock WRX turbo. Quick spool, good low end, but shits on its face up top. The 34 has a lil better top end. And almost all of the TMIC's are pretty good. I like Perrin the best probably or APS.

classifieds

i've got a 34 for sale in the classifieds... sorry to advertise, but this is a 34 post, and i'm trying to part out mods oh yea, there's a good article in Dsport about getting 300whp in a wrx for like $4500 with a vf34... but they list a vf34 as ~$1100 which is way too much

Actually, they use a VF39. And they claim 350 or so whp with it.

Of course, they also dynoed a stock WRX and got 195 whp.

Cosmo, not to be rude, but i have the arcticle in front of me. They use a vf 34. It's issue 26. Maybe you're looking at a different issue? Don't ask me if their numbers are off, but it is not a 39. And even if it was, doesn't the 34 have more top end?

I haven't read that magazine in a while. I don't remember which issue. This was their shop car. It was a blue one that had XSTuning.com down the side of it. I remember this particular one being a 39, because I e-mailed them and asked them about it. They never responed.

And, yes, a 34 does make more power, which is part of the reason the numbers sounded so far off to me.

Ya the blue one had ALL that engine work and threw on a tiny VF39l. The white 04 or 05 had the vf34 on it all for "under 4500" lol.
