Vf23

Any one have a vf23? I am considering this turbo with a APS front mount I think the Vf23 will spool real fast and will be good for my driving style. Anyone have an VF23 Utec maps? Do you guys think High 12's would be possible on the VF23 with a good driver? Or would I need to step up to a 34?

The VF23 is too small in my opinion. It's not much larger than a stock turbo. If you were to get one, you would get the quick spool you are looking for with a TMIC. Plus it would be cheaper and easier to install. You don't need a FMIC with that. Especially a FMIC the size of the APS.

Yeah if you want spool go VF30/34. 12's might be possible with a good driver and good tuning. Or you can get a VF22 or P1818 w/ that APS 500 FMIC and you should be able to get 12s pretty easily. Of course you need a good tune and all the supporting mods.

Yea I just put the VF 23 turbo on last weekend and I like it alot, it has like 40 horse less max output than the VF 34 but it spools very much so like stock so if you like the stock turbo but want a little more then its great. I know for a fact it could hit 12's because before I put it on I hit a 12.96 at 107 on the stock turbo. Right now I have the VF 23 with an STI intercooler but I dont have fuel injecters yet so im only running like 14 PSI and it still makes more power than my stock turbo at 17 psi so when I put the injecters in and tune a litte for 18 PSI its gonna be pretty nice for the size and spool rate of the turbo.. So yea if you dont want crazy out put power and you need a good spool time the VF 23 is a great set up!!

Yea I ran it like 5 times and I only got in the 12's once and the other times were like 13.1 and 13.2 but I was pushing the stock turbo to its limits for sure because i was running 18 pounds but when I took the turbo out last weekend There were signs of it running very lean so I would not try to do that again btu I wanted 12's with the stock turbo because ive only seen one other person do that I also had up pipe, down pipe, exhaust, Utech " tuned" CAI, Intercooler chiller system and a fuel pump so it was a little more than the stock turbo doing the work. I know its hard to believe but I did it once and it was sweet!!! oh Yea I was also on 100 race gas so I would not get detenation....

Wow thats sweet. Your stock turbo proably wouldn't have held up much longer at 18 psi lol. But that is impressive. Did you drop your clutch?

I ran my stock turbo at 18 psi for a while. No damage, but it's debatable whether or not it was flowing enough air to make any real power increase.

Yea I have the vf23 and I love it. Even though its only slightly bigger than the stocker you will feel a major difference. I think people underestimate that turbo..... i got it cause 2 of the local performance shops told me it was the best street turbo. Keep in mind they have also tried the vf22, vf30 , vf34 and 18g. If you research the vf 23 on nasioc.com, there is a test that shows that the vf23 has the best low end torque and hp number, stuff that makes street driving fun...

A vf23 with race gas right? i dont think that et can be reached on pump gas.. if that is the case take about 3 or 4 tenths of a seconed off of anyturbo running race gas.. people have it high 12s with the stock turbo on race gas..

the tuning is a little better than it was 4 years ago for em. It helps a bit but yeah, 12s are rare for the 02-05s on a totally stock turbo
