Is VF-46 CHRA Compatible with a VF-40
After 125,000 miles my VF-40 went out on my '06 OB XT. I pulled the turbo last night and the turbine wheel had sheered completely off and was quite beat up, the turbine housing doesn't appear to be any worse for the wear. I am just going to remove the banjo bolt filters and replace the CHRA, and do an oil flush. I don't want to put a whole lot of money into the car since I, unfortunately, have to sell it. But I want to do it right for the next person.
Anyway, the first question I have is whether or not a VF46 cartridge will fit into the VF40 housings? Second, if it does, is there any advantage to doing so? Third, since a few metal pieces, even though they are fairly small, made it into the downpipe/cat, should that to be replaced?
