Hey i just put it a perrin uppipe on my 2004 wrx and its making the car go into a limp mode. the codes like tgv closed or tvg closed. so i bought the resister that has the three red stripes then one gold one and put it in the harness where that sensor used to connect into the stock uppipe and its still in limp mode. why is this doing this? i got a perrin intake and bov on too. can someone please helppp mee
thank youu
its a p1091 TGV system closed and theres two codes but their both the same. the car barly creates boost and im sure is in some safty mode, what is a TGV? and what could cause that?
"02-05 WRX models have an EGT sensor in the factory uppipe. Perrin has chosen to eliminate the factory EGT sensor, which the car only uses in the unlikely event that both oxygen sensors fail. As boost levels increase, the EGT sensor can read falsely and trigger "limp" mode, reducing performance; even worse, the sensor could possibly break off and damage the turbocharger. To combat this, Perrin has eliminated the sensor bung in their uppipe as it is unnecessary and can cause turbo damage. When removing this sensor, you will need a resistor (about 25 cents from Radio Shack)to prevent a check engine light (CEL) -- just bring in the picture below to get what you need." - quoted from JSC Speed: Performance Parts Warehouse
If you have not done so already, you need the resistor or a tune to eliminate the codes.
The UP is not causing you to have problems with the TGV's. You have a separate issue going on. I would double check all your TGV sensors and reset your ECU. If the TGVs are stuck closed it can be very bad. It will make the car run like it is only on two cylinders.
hmm maybe i hit something when i put it in.. ill bring it back in the shop and see. i got all data up so i can where those sensors are. maybe something got in there some how or a hose is being pinched?
Alright first off that you guys for all the help. today at work I was looking and looking to see what it could be and taking the sensors out and looking at them and while I was doing that I got another code. p1088 like circuit low/high. I looked at the tgv circuit right above the turbo and there It was.. it most of broke while I was using my air ratchet or something ha but at least I know what it is!
Thanks again
Your problem is most likley if you replace the tvg sensors and the cars still running extremley sluggish your Manifold Runner Controll which is a fludder in the manifold that lets the air through when you throttle is stuck closed in either bank one or bank two so your not firing two pistons. Take out the whole sensor use MAF sensor cleaner and spray into the manifold to get the carbon knocked out if that doesnt work you going to have to replace the fludder in the manifold.
