uppipe gaskets

I just bought a turboxs uppipe and was wondering if it would be benificial to replace the gaskets when I do the install...my wrx is an 05 and has like 1800 miles on it...so I don't think the gaskets are worn enough to replace...I've also heard that new gaskets combined with a new uppipe install leak pretty bad...I was wondering how trustworthy that statement is...? thanks for the help!

I agree - it's always good to replace gaskets - From what I've heard, copper gaskets are supposedly best... check these out:

If you use the stock gaskets, there will almost be a leak guaranteed.

The age of the gaskets isn't really going to matter. Once they have been crushed into place once, unless they are in the exact same location when you reinstall them they will be less effective. Gaskets, even OEM gaskets, can be had for just a few dollars. Save yourself the hassle and pick some up.

I have heard from numerous people that you ALWAYS change your uppipe gasket when you remove, install, etc. your uppipe. The downpipe gasket (off the back of the turbo) on the other hand, you can get away with reusing it at least once (i did, and no problems at all!), and that came from a very ruputable tuning company. But if you have a few dollars to toss around a new dp gasket wouldnt hurt at all!
