Hey guys...I am new to the WRX and turbos....have had S/C'd cars but never turbos so I am not too familiar with all the brands and whos who and whos good. What I am wanting to do is go with the Cobb AP and then a new UP and DP. First, changing the UP/DP will cause the sound of the exhaust to change right?....second, I looked at Cobb and there stuff is on the expensive side, should I go with them or another company...I am just scared to go with one of those companies who make crap for every car manufacturer other than specializing in Subaru. If I dont want a "loud" exhaust but I do want it a little more pronounced (in a more rumbling way) who do you guys recommend? Thanks!
By the way...the reason I dont get the whole TBE is because like I said...I dont want the car to be a whole lot louder....
... which means, go UP/DP + Stock Catback. That should keep you quiet.
I have a Borla "Hush" Catback (No UP/DP yet) and it has a great rumble to it. I'm sure once I have an UP/DP installed, it will definately sound "louder", but not "fart can" loud.
Dont get me wrong...I still want it a little more noticable and I guess the UP/DP will do that right? Its just that I have been there done that several times when it comes to loud exhaust systems from Integras to Mustangs and I dont want it to be unpleasant to ride in my car...its just so nice to drive right now. One more thing....I am coming to the conclusion that most people do catless UP and cat DP...this will pass emissions right?
I dont know about Georgia, but in California that will fail emissions with flying colors. If they do a sniffer test there you definitely wont pass emissions. If it's just visual and the guy is a moron you have a fighting chance, but I believe federally it is illegal to remove a functional catalytic converter even if it is replaced with another one. I know thats the way it is here in California anyways. but then again the Californian air reserve board people are a little over protective in my opinion.
Yea no cats will NOT pass emissions in California that is for sure, your best bet is to have a hi flow cat. Wassap Jenner what part of SJ are you from?
