Thats exactly what I was trying to get accross in my post. Not only that, but a Z06 still has loads of tuning options. Shit, the new base C6 is going to have a 6 liter 400+hp engine.
All im saying is dont just disregard the corvette beceause its associated with older people and all you've read is sport compact car or super street. I dare you to either test drive or just ride in a corvette and tell me they are not completely sweet, because ive been in a z06, and it was more fun than being a passenger in a ferrari 355.
Yeah the corvette is much faster, has about twice as much displacement than the STi and evo but I would rather have an STi or evo over the Vette. One major reason is ### I live in ohio and I need the AWD. Plus the money saved from buying a EVO or STi instead of the ZO6 will go into modding the car into a car much faster than the stock ZO6. Everybody knows Corvettes are fast, but not many people think about the EVOs and STi's running 11s and 10s round here in a small suburb of Cleveland. The ZO6 is a beast, but I would never buy a Corvette until I get much older, and even then I'd rather have a Ferrari or Lambo even tho they might not be as fast as the ZO6.
As said before, they are apples and oranges. The point I was making is that if I had $50,000+ to put into a car, I would go Sti/EVO. After putting $20,000 in mods into an STi (you're now equal to a Z06 price wise) the Z06 would be left behind. But there's no need for a this car's better than this one war. Both are great cars and both do a great job at what they were designed to do.
What do you guys think about the new look of the Vette? Like?, dislike?

The new vette is quite a bit shorter. 7 inches? I'm not sure if that's right. Not only are they shorter but they are wider as well. Those things will be monsters at the track. Aren't the normal C6 (non-z06) going to be like 400hp? What about the loss of flip-up headlights? I like the new look but the flip-up headlights had history. I figured they would keep them forever. Guess not.
Yea, they are much shorter and a bit narrower. The car is shorter, but the wheelbase is actually increased by about an inch. Also, when one refers to stingray, that doesnt really mean much save for refering either to the c2 or c3, which the span of those two ran from i think 63 to 82. Also, when you say they are too big, the new C6s are only an inch longer than wrx's, which still may be too big for some peoples prefrences.
Yet again, if you keep blowing off vettes like they are nothing, i bet you've never driven or been in a z06. Also if you put 20 grand into an STi, yea it would be faster in the 1/4, but it still wouldnt be able to keep up with a vette in high speeds, not only that but with that much in an sti i bet you're gonna have a lot of lag. With N/A v8s, there is no such thing as lag.
My buddy has a 450hp 77 vette, and i take him every time in the 1/8, but he whoops my ass in the 1/4 because he has 308s in it. If you put wrx gears or sti gears in a vette, it'd be a different story, a very scary story.
Yeah there is no denying the pure brute power of the Z06 or any car with a well built V8. I'm doing a resoration of a 55 ford pickup and I'm putting an LS1 350 and 6-speed from a 2000 Camaro along with either a twin turbo setup or a Vortec supercharger. It's a fun project. Alot of work but it will all be worth it.
if i could afford a vette i woulda got one no denyin. but old people get em cause they have the cash by that age, less to pay on and thier insurance is cheap! i was gonna go for a 70-72 454 vette but i thought it was hipocritical at the time because i hated chevy but i wish i had gotten that now seein my insurance is high with full coverage. but also thier all fiberglass....scary!!!!!
